How to use it in your lesson

A face offers a visual clue when the teacher reveals a feeling. Learners try the same phrase with different pace, pitch and emphasis, then explain what they noticed.

  1. Choose a phrase and a feeling.
  2. Show the expression to support preparation, or hide it while classmates listen.
  3. Compare performances and discuss the vocal clues.

For primary learners

Use short familiar phrases and a clear expression to support understanding.

For middle-school learners

Explore subtle interpretations: could the same line sound proud, uncertain or disappointed?
